Get the World’s Simplest Minimalism Formula

by James Schipper · 3 comments

A simple “program” for getting rid of a lifetime of collected and gathered belongings. This is what I do, and in this order.

If it has a sentimental value of some sort:

Then gift it to a friend.

If it has a monetary value (someone will give you money):

Then sell it.

If nobody will give you money, but it is useful someone:

Then donate it.

If it can be recycled:

Then recycle it.

If none of the above criteria are met:

Then trash it.

I could add a lot of detail to this, but it really is just this simple. Follow this if you want to minimize your life for travel or just for the sake of the freedom it provides.

Sounds like a plan!

One addition could be to “freecycle” it , for something you are in need of….
I love getting rid of stuff, it feels good.
