How to Alienate Readers and Return a Blog from the Dead

by James Schipper · 5 comments

So. 2011 happened.

Learned new things, had a bunch of fantastic experiences, conducted more lifestyle experiments than I probably should have, found many great new tools, met lots of smart people doing amazing things, went to fun new places, and hardly shared any of it with my readers.

I might be jumping around here the first month of the year or so, but I have some great resources to help you out.

I’m putting together a free guide to help you figure out the kind of Collar-Free life you want to live. It has things like online tools and resources to help you live and work from anywhere, like I do. You don’t have to do exactly what I do, as there are many variations on what people do for their unconventional lifestyle.

The point for me is to show you what’s out there, so you don’t feel like you’re stuck in whatever place brings you searching for these things.

There will be other changes around here this month, but I’ll just tell you about them as I get them up and running.

If you have something you think I’d like to see or should tell people about, let me know in the comments below or contact page.

Thanks for sticking around.

Happy new year James!

“So. 2011 happened.” James, my words exactly. I had a very similar 2011. Where did that year go anyway?!

Started a new business, did all kinds of online biz experiments, put more emphasis on healthy eating & exercising.. AND almost dropped the whole “blogging thing”. 6 posts in total in 2011 for me!

I think now it’s the perfect time for a serious come back. Should be getting NC back on track within the next few weeks! Looking forward to your new stuff here buddy!

I was doing things, just not talking much about it, which of course defeats the purpose of even having a blog :D

I did a lot of experimentation both with online stuff and life in general. I will put them up here as I get them out onto the screen.

Let me know how I can help with your projects, as usual!

Good idea putting the guide together James. I think people just want to hear practical ways they can apply, instead of just the theory of “it’s possible”.

Have a great 2012! What are some of your goals for this year?

I have been guilty of doing the vague “it’s possible” thing for too long. The purpose of the blog is to share it with others, not to keep it to myself.

That is one of my goals for 2012: to share what I’ve learned, so those who feel stuck can not only see there is a way out, but to give some different steps.

I have a tendency to not post about things because “someone else” already posted about that. But I forget that not everyone reads the same things I read, follows the same blogs I follow, etc. So my readers could have absolutely no idea that anyone wrote about the subject they don’t even know about because I haven’t written about it either :D

I have lots of updates coming. I wrote out about 3400 words yesterday alone.
